I was reading on another blog about a gym rat's observations while working out. I thought I would do the same. Note: these are just observations, I'm not mocking anyone or anything. I have a blast at the gym and just thought I would blog about it.
1. I get the biggest kick out of people who can't stop looking at themselves in the mirror while they work out. One bicep curl, turn and look. Other arm, turn and look. It's mostly guys that do this and I can't help but smile when I see this happen. One of these days, one of them is going to catch me looking at them and I'm going to say, "I agree. You're gorgeous."
2. Attention ladies: if you leave the gym as lovely as you arrived, you didn't work out hard enough. I'm talking about the women who clearly have not showered and redone their makeup or anything like that. If you are as cute as a button post workout, you aren't getting your money's worth out of the gym.
3. Ok, onto something that, for the life of me, I can't understand: people that read/text/etc. while on the treadmill/elliptical/bikes. I will give some people credit that they do that when they are disabled, injured, or needing some very low impact exercise. But those cases are usually pretty obvious and very rare. Seriously, if you are reading while on these machines, you are wasting your time. Please move on and leave the machine to someone who's going to use it correctly. You are in the gym. WORK for heaven's sake. Go sit on your couch at home and read your book.
4. I have ranted about this on Facebook, and I will do it here. People who don't re-rack their weights correctly drive me absolutely bananas. It's not that I wish they were in numerical order, it's just I usually have to hunt for 2 dumbbells that are the same weight. I have been incorporating re-racking them as a part of my workout. This is the result:
I have to ask: is it really THAT difficult to put your weights back where you found them? Come on now!!!
Those are just a few things that cross my mind while at the gym. Please don't get me wrong. I love our local Rush and everything about it. I just readily admit I don't understand people, at that includes people at the gym. Share your musing from your gym!
