Anyone who knows me knows that I am a huge MAC ho. As a believer for over 10 years, I thought it might be fun to do a blog about my MAC must-haves. MAC can be expensive but it's a good investment, and as far as I'm concerned, with makeup, you get what you pay for.
So here are my must-haves for anyone interested in giving MAC a try!
The 217 brush
This is advertised as a blending brush. It is great for that, but I use it as a crease brush and a tool to use in my outer V. If you only buy one brush from MAC, this is it!
The 212 brush
I affectionately call this one the "push brush." It is excellent for tightlining and for getting gel liners super close to the lashline.
Fluidline
This is, by far, the best eyeliner in the entire makeup industry, in my opinion. Fool-proof and easy to use! My favorite color is dipdown. It's a good color to start with if you are scared of black. I use the above mentioned 212 brush or the 211 brush to apply. The 211 will help you get a thicker line and it also helps you when you are trying to build up the color.
Eyeshadow
My must-haves in eyeshadow are very simple. I will narrow them down to my top 5:
1. Soft brown
This is THE color I reach for the most. It stands well on it's own, it's a good blending color, and it's a good transition color when you are doing a multi-color eye. It works well on everyone. Out of my top 5, this one, I think, every woman/man should own.
2. Carbon
Black, the blackest black. Need I say more? I use this on top of black liner to set it. Be VERY careful with this color. It's very pigmented and can get overwhelming if you don't apply it with a gentle hand.
3. Brule
Everyone needs a color that is close to their skin tone. This is mine. I use it as a base color, an eyebrow/inner corner highlight, a blending color, and just an all-over color when I am wearing a simple look of eyeliner and mascara.
4. Folie
Gorgeous, gorgeous plummy brown. I wear this shade in some form almost every day. It's excellent for the crease and the outer V. I pair it often with Brule all over the lid and put in the crease and outer corner. It looks lovely on everyone.
5. Gesso
On the opposite end of the spectrum from Carbon, it's the whitest white. Matte finish. It is excellent for the inner corner and brow highlight. If you are like me and have a very dark and shadowy inner corner, you will love this shade. Like Carbon, though, apply with a gentle hand. This shade keeps my eyes from looking tired.
Viva Glam Lipstick
My perfect shade of lipstick, the one I reach for when I don't know what color to wear, is Viva Glam VI. It's a gorgeous shade that works well with my skintone, eye and hair color. Not to mention, when you purchase it, the selling price is donated to the MAC AIDS fund. Nice huh?
Pro-longwear Lipcreme
This my other go-to lip color. This is a good everyday color when I am wanting something not quite as dramatic. A more casual color, if you will. I wear the color Sweet Ever After. My lips are naturally crazy dry, so I usually put a gloss on top of it. My go-to for MAC lipglass are Viva Glam VI and Cremesheen in Looks Like Sin.
Mineralized Skinfinish Natural
This is my number one must-have as far as face products go. It is excellent for setting your foundation, touch-ups, or when you simply want a low-coverage face. I actually own two of these: one for my makeup bag and I carry one in my purse.
Powder Blush
My must-have color in blush is Spingsheen. It is a wonderful dupe for NARS Orgasm, with much better payoff. This is the perfect color that compliments any look and it's easily buildable. Another one of my, "Hmm, what should I wear today?" colors.
And finally...
Fix +
This is my final step when applying makeup. A gentle mist of this takes away and chalkiness and over-powdery looks. Not to mention, it's just refreshing.
And there you have it! My list of MAC must-haves. I truly love the company and have really enjoyed sharing my favorites list :-)
